The prevention of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) including HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) which leads to AIDS should be a major concern for everyone. Currently, there is only one form of birth control currently available that is considered highly effective in helping protect against HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), the latex condom worn by the man. The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) approved the marketing of male condoms made from polyurethane as effective in preventing sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), including HIV although, it is not rated 100% effective. Discharge diseases are transmitted when infected semen or vaginal fluids contact mucosal surfaces – HIV, gonorrhea, Chlamydia and trichomoniasis. Genital Ulcer Diseases are transmitted through contact with infected skin or mucosal surfaces – genital herpes, syphilis and chancroid. The safest way to avoid the transmission of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) is to sustain from sexual intercourse of an individual you have not known for a lengthy period of time and, to only participate in sexual intercourse with an individual that you have known, for a lengthy period of time. It is against the law in many states for an individual who is HIV positive to have sexual contact with another individual without first informing the individual that they are HIV positive. You should avoid sharing sex toys with another individual you are unfamiliar with. You have no way of knowing how clean the toy is or who else may have used the toy. It is good practice to use a condom with any sex toy to prevent sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and other infections that may be carried by a toy which has not been thoroughly cleaned between uses. Talk to your physician about sexually transmitted disease symptoms. For more details regarding sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), please visit the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention).
